The story of "The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War" begins in the North Ambria Autonomous Province, northwest of the Zemurian continent. Set between the events of "Trails of Cold Steel II" and "Trails of Cold Steel III", this "Northern Campaign" is told through the eyes of Lavie, a female hunter serving in the TV anime's mercenary group, the "Northern Jaegers".
Imperial Calendar Year 1205.
Lavi is a young woman born and raised in the North Ambria Autonomous Province.
To protect her homeland and distance herself from the legacy of her grandfather, Vlad—a once-revered hero who ultimately betrayed his country—she enlists in the continent's largest hunter corps, the "Northern Jaegers", and dedicates herself to her missions.
One day, Lavi, whose reckless dedication to duty often breaches discipline, is forced to team up with fellow Jaegers Marty, Iseria, and Talion. They are given a dangerous spy mission to infiltrate the Erebonian Empire.
Their objective: to gather intelligence on the enigmatic "Hero of the Empire", a looming threat to North Ambria.
