Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.
Community suggestions ranged widely, encompassing a Smash TV remake and Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed prior internal consideration of a Smash TV remake and hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.
While details remain scarce, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The studio's next title faces high expectations, following Helldivers 2's success as a standout game of 2024.
A recent Helldivers 2 update, including the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The update, "Omens of Tyranny," was a surprise release at the 2024 Game Awards and has been well-received.
This update has clearly delighted Helldivers 2 players. Coupled with rumors of a Killzone crossover, the cooperative shooter appears poised for continued success in 2025.
