In a recent tweet, Sony announced that these cherished classic themes will be departing on January 31, 2025. However, there's good news for fans: Sony has confirmed that these themes will make a comeback in the future. This is great news for PS5 users who have relished the nostalgia these themes bring, with their iconic boot-up sounds and visuals.
"Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow," Sony stated. "Due to the positive feedback on these four themes, we're working behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the coming months."

However, there's also some disappointing news. In a follow-up tweet, Sony clarified that there are no plans to introduce new themes beyond the current selection. Here’s their statement:
"While there aren’t plans to create additional themes in the future, we're excited to keep celebrating legacy PlayStation hardware with you all."
The community has expressed disappointment over this news, as themes were a cherished feature in previous PlayStation consoles. Sony has yet to implement themes on the PS5, and according to this statement, it appears unlikely for this console generation.

The PSOne theme features the iconic console on the home screen background, the PS2 theme incorporates its distinctive menu shapes, the PS3 theme showcases its wave background, and the PS4 theme includes its unique wave patterns. Each theme also includes the respective console's signature sound effects, adding to the nostalgic experience.
