SEGA's recent financial report for the fiscal year ending March 2024 revealed that Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), the popular gacha spin-off, is under consideration for both a wider Japanese release and a global launch. The report indicated that the game's initial performance is meeting expectations, paving the way for potential expansion into new territories.

Licensed by Atlus, Persona 5: The Phantom X initially soft-launched in China on April 12, 2024, followed by Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan on April 18. Published by Perfect World Games and developed by Black Wings Game Studio, the game is currently undergoing open beta testing.
Players step into the shoes of a new silent protagonist, known as "Wonder," a high school student by day and a Persona-wielding Phantom Thief by night. Joining forces with familiar faces and new allies, Wonder’s mission is to combat societal injustices.
Wonder's initial Persona is Janosik, inspired by Slovakian folklore and embodying a Robin Hood-esque archetype. The iconic Joker from the main Persona 5 series is also part of the team, alongside a new character named YUI.
Blending the classic Persona elements of turn-based combat, social simulation, and dungeon crawling, P5X introduces a gacha system for character acquisition.
New Roguelike Game Mode: Heart Rail
Popular Persona content creator Faz showcased the new Heart Rail roguelike game mode in his recent gameplay video. SEGA reported consistent sales of new titles from its Japanese studios within the "Full Game" category, along with strong repeat sales of previously released games. Notable successes included Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (1 million units sold globally in its first week), Persona 3 Reload (1 million units in its first week, the fastest for any Atlus title), and Football Manager 2024 (9 million players since launch).
SEGA's FY25 Forecast and Business Restructuring
SEGA announced a restructuring, creating a new "Gaming Business" segment. This reflects a push towards online gaming, with plans to expand into the North American market and establish it as a key business pillar. The segment will also encompass SEGA SAMMY CREATION's slot machine operations and PARADISE SEGASAMMY's integrated resort businesses.
SEGA projects increased sales and profits for FY2025, forecasting 93 billion Yen (approximately 597 billion USD) in revenue for the Full Game segment—a 5.4% increase year-on-year. The company also anticipates releasing a new Sonic title in the next fiscal year.
