Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded the game, introducing numerous crafting materials, including the valuable Dark Fragments. These are crucial for crafting high-tier accessories and shouldn't be overlooked.
How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments are exclusively found on Feybreak Island by engaging with Dark-elemental Pals. This method is ineffective for Dark-elemental Pals in other game areas. Many Pals on the outer beaches and gravel areas are ground or water types; venturing inland is necessary to encounter Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some, like Starryon, are primarily nocturnal unless they are boss variants.
Defeating or capturing these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. The drop isn't guaranteed, but diligent hunting of Dark Pals should provide a sufficient supply.
The following Dark-elemental Pals yield Dark Fragments. Note that boss and predator variants exist in open areas and dungeons:
While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on the ground across Feybreak. Thorough exploration is encouraged, though remember that frequent combat will deplete ammunition, potentially impacting other objectives like defeating Bjorn, the island's formidable Tower Boss.
Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments, while valuable, aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They are primarily components in specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for the player character.
The following items require Dark Fragments. Remember to unlock the schematic in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and ensure you have the necessary machines and materials:
