Nvidia Unveils New Gameplay Glimpse of Doom: The Dark Ages

Nvidia's recent hardware and software showcase offered a sneak peek at the highly anticipated Doom: The Dark Ages, slated for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. The 12-second teaser highlights the game's diverse environments and features the iconic Doom Slayer. Nvidia confirmed the game will utilize DLSS 4 technology.

Initially announced at last year's Xbox Games Showcase, Doom: The Dark Ages is the next chapter in id Software's successful Doom reboot series, building upon the foundation laid by the 2016 Doom title. The 2016 reboot successfully modernized the classic "boomer shooter," delivering intense combat and a brutal, immersive world. This legacy continues in Doom: The Dark Ages, promising enhanced visuals and a variety of environments.

Nvidia's raytracing showcase included the brief Doom: The Dark Ages footage, showcasing the game's level design, ranging from opulent corridors to desolate craters. The Doom Slayer makes a brief appearance, showcasing a new shield. Nvidia's blog post confirmed the game's development using the latest idTech engine and ray reconstruction capabilities on the new RTX 50 series PCs and laptops, hinting at impressive visuals.

Nvidia's Showcase Extends Beyond Doom

The showcase also featured upcoming titles from CD Projekt Red and MachineGames (Indiana Jones and the Great Circle), the latter praised for its visuals, combat, exploration, and voice acting. The showcase precedes the launch of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series, paving the way for enhanced visual fidelity and performance in future games.

While a precise release date remains unannounced, Doom: The Dark Ages is expected to launch sometime in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Further details regarding the storyline, enemy variety, and combat mechanics are anticipated as 2025 progresses.
