Rumors are swirling that the popular MMORPG, FFXIV, might be making its way to mobile devices. A gaming industry source, Kurakasis, alleges that Tencent Games and Square Enix are collaborating on a mobile port.
A History of Mixed Results
This isn't Square Enix's first foray into mobile Final Fantasy games. Previous mobile titles, however, have had mixed reception. While Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis received a lukewarm response, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia was ultimately shut down. Therefore, adapting the complex FFXIV experience for mobile is a significant challenge.
