Crucial Minecraft Tasks You've Neglected

by Peyton Nov 18,2025

While Minecraft may look like a simple sandbox built from blocks at first glance, it offers an incredibly deep and vibrant universe teeming with adventure, challenges, and creative potential. The game doesn't hand you a set of instructions, but there are key steps every player should take—not only to survive, but to truly flourish. In this article, we explore some of the most rewarding and nuanced activities you can pursue to thrive in this vast world.

Punch Trees (With Purpose)

Your first priority upon spawning in a new world is to gather wood. It serves as the essential building block for almost everything—tools, shelter, and crafting tables included. Don’t just collect a couple of logs and stop there. Spend your initial day gathering at least one stack of wood (preferably oak or birch) to ensure you're well-prepared. Convert some into planks and sticks to craft your first tools, then start planning your base.

Explore the Nether with a Portal!

The Nether is a hazardous realm, but it's essential for completing the game and obtaining advanced resources such as blaze rods, nether quartz, and ancient debris. Once you have diamonds and a diamond pickaxe, mine obsidian to construct a portal (minimum frame size: 4×5 blocks). Before entering, equip yourself with at least iron armor, a bow, ample food, building blocks for bridges, and gold armor to ward off piglins. Always know your way back, and carry flint and steel in case your portal is deactivated.

Players can also experience Minecraft on a larger PC or laptop screen using BlueStacks, taking full advantage of keyboard and mouse controls.
