Nexus Mods, a popular modding site, finds itself at the center of a heated debate after removing over 500 mods in a single month for Marvel's Rivals. The controversy ignited when mods replacing Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump were taken down.
TheDarkOne, the site's owner, clarified the situation on Reddit, stating that both mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. He noted the curious silence of YouTube commentators on this simultaneous removal.
However, this action didn't quell the outrage. TheDarkOne revealed a subsequent barrage of threats and hateful messages directed at the platform, including death threats and accusations of pedophilia.
This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced backlash over mod removals. A similar incident occurred in 2022, involving a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags. The site's stance on inclusivity and its rejection of discriminatory content was publicly affirmed at that time.
