Recruiting Surfer Jay: A Guide to Finding Kraken-Chan
Surfer Jay, a powerful recruit found in Honolulu, boasts superior base stats compared to earlier crew members. However, acquiring him requires a bit more legwork than others. The key is a specific item: Kraken-Chan.
First, set sail for Madlantis. Head to the arcade tent across from the Madlantis Golf Range. Inside, you'll find a UFO Catcher claw machine. Your goal: Kraken-Chan, a blue plush. Note that Kraken-Chan isn't always available; if you don't see it, ask the attendant to change the prizes.
Winning Kraken-Chan might take several tries—stock up on cash! Use the claw strategically to nudge the plush into the collection slot.
Once you have Kraken-Chan, return to Honolulu. You can find Surfer Jay at Tropical Coco in the Anaconda Shopping Center (use the mini-map to locate the pirate recruit symbol). Speak to him; his personal struggles will unfold. Present him with Kraken-Chan, and he'll join your crew. While he doesn't have unique perks as First Mate or Boarding Squad Leader, he's a valuable addition for completionists.
