Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features

Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, showcased a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key features. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, provided detailed insights into the console's design and functionality. CEO Eddie Tsai subsequently confirmed several specifications.

The mockup highlighted a larger form factor, approaching the size of Valve's Steam Deck. A significant revelation was the implementation of magnetic Joy-Cons, featuring SL and SR buttons that detach via a pin mechanism. Despite the magnetic design, Tsai assured that the Joy-Cons remain securely attached during gameplay.

Further details emerged regarding the Joy-Con's "mounting channel," which incorporates optical sensors. This suggests potential functionality as a mouse, a theory supported by recently leaked Switch 2 images.

Interestingly, while the Switch 2's dimensions allow it to physically fit within the existing Switch dock, structural differences render it incompatible. The purpose of a new "C" button and an additional USB-C port remains currently unknown.
