GAMM Is the Biggest Game Museum in Italy Where You Can Share Pieces of Game History

Rome boasts Italy's largest video game museum! GAMM, the Game Museum, has officially opened its doors to the public in Piazza della Repubblica. The museum is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a fervent advocate for preserving and promoting video game heritage, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending history, technology, and interactive gameplay. GAMM builds upon the success of Vigamus, a Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.

This expansive new museum, covering 700 square meters across two floors, is organized into three captivating thematic sections. Before exploring the details, take a quick virtual tour!

Inside GAMM: A Look at the Exhibits

The GAMMDOME is a digital interactive space featuring historical gaming artifacts—consoles, donated items, and more—alongside interactive stations. Its design is based on the 4E concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

Next, the Path of Arcadia (PARC) transports visitors back to the golden age of arcade games, showcasing classic titles from the late 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.

Finally, the Historical Playground (HIP) delves into game mechanics, design principles, and the underlying structure of games, offering a behind-the-scenes look at gaming history.

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets cost 15 euros. For more information, visit the official GAMM website.
