In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, combat plays a crucial role, and having better weapons can significantly enhance your gameplay experience. After the prologue, Henry finds himself without any weapons, but there's a way to arm yourself early on with the Dogwood Village Bow, and it's completely free.
Early Dogwood Village Bow Location in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
After parting ways with Hans, your next goal is to find a way into the wedding. You can achieve this by taking a job with either a blacksmith or a miller, making yourself useful enough to earn an invitation. Even if you're not interested in the blacksmith job, the map marker for it will guide you directly to the location of the Dogwood Village Bow. If you decide to take the blacksmith job to attend Semine's wedding, you'll also want to learn how to obtain the hermit's sword, though that opportunity comes later.
The blacksmith job is located in Tachov, north of Troskowitz, where the prologue concludes and the game world opens up. To reach the bow, follow the road west out of Troskowitz, then continue north as the path curves. At a fork where a small road branches west and the main road splits ahead, turn right towards a cluster of trees. This area is easy to overlook as it blends in with the surroundings. Hidden within these trees is a small training area.
Inside the cluster, you'll find a target with arrows sticking out of it. Collect these arrows for free ammunition, then look to the right side of the tree to find the Dogwood Village Bow leaning against the trunk. Additionally, you can grab some brew from a nearby stump and pick mushrooms in the area. Once you've gathered what you need, you can continue with your current quest.

Other Ways to Get the Dogwood Village Bow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
While it's possible to purchase the Dogwood Village Bow, it's not the most powerful ranged weapon available. You can buy it from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov, but considering the proximity to the free version, it's not worth the expense. If you're in need of a ranged weapon, it's better to go for the free bow. However, Vitek also sells other, more effective weapons, and you can earn money through alchemy by collecting herbs and brewing potions to sell.
Whether you opt for the free bow or work towards purchasing a different weapon, having a ranged combat option is beneficial, especially since you can't adjust the difficulty. The combat system in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* remains similar to the first game, and melee combat may not suit every player. Personally, I prefer relying on ranged weapons whenever possible.
If you decide to continue to Tachov to become a blacksmith, you can sleep and save after proving your ability to forge a sword. Alternatively, head to the miller to progress the main quest. With a ranged weapon in your arsenal, combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* becomes more manageable.
And that's how you can get the free Dogwood Village Bow early in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
