Despite a slow initial launch in May 2024, Final Fantasy XVI ultimately fell short of projected sales figures for the fiscal year. Specific sales data remains undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales figures for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also missed internal sales targets.
The company clarified that it doesn't consider the sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete failure. Furthermore, they remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still achieve its goals within the planned 18-month timeframe.
