Marvel Rivals Season 1: Wong Spotted, Fueling Speculation

Marvel Rivals' Season 1, "Eternal Night," launching January 10th, is generating significant buzz. The season introduces Dracula as the main antagonist, alongside the Fantastic Four (including alternate skins for the Maker and Malice), and a new Sanctum Sanctorum map. But a recently discovered detail has players speculating about a future addition to the roster: Wong.

A brief glimpse of a Wong portrait in the Sanctum Sanctorum map trailer, reminiscent of Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal, has ignited online discussion. This Easter egg, highlighted by Reddit user fugo_hate, suggests Wong might become a playable character, sparking debate about his potential magical abilities in the game.

The game itself has been a massive success, boasting over 10 million players in its first 72 hours. This popularity fuels anticipation for the upcoming content drop, which includes three new maps and the Doom Match mode.

Wong's Growing Popularity

Wong's increased prominence, largely due to Benedict Wong's MCU appearances, has elevated his profile beyond the comics where he's been a fixture since the 1960s. He's previously appeared in various games, including Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (non-playable), Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Snap, and LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

While the painting could simply be a tribute to Doctor Strange's ally, the Sanctum Sanctorum's many Marvel universe references add to the intrigue. The January 10th launch of Season 1 will bring Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman into the playable lineup, alongside the new content, leaving players eager to see what the future holds for Marvel Rivals and the potential addition of Wong.
