Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds two classic F-Zero GBA racers!
Get ready for high-octane action! Nintendo has announced that F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend will be speeding onto the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on October 11, 2024.
This exciting addition brings two iconic GBA racing titles to the modern console. F-Zero: GP Legend, a global release from 2004, joins the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax, finally making it available worldwide.
The F-Zero series, a futuristic racing franchise celebrating over 30 years since its 1990 debut, has been a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy. Its influence on the gaming industry is undeniable, inspiring titles like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for pushing the boundaries of console technology, F-Zero games have consistently delivered breakneck speeds and thrilling gameplay.
Like Nintendo's Mario Kart series, F-Zero features intense racing with track obstacles and competitive battles between racers and their unique "F-Zero machines." The series' iconic protagonist, Captain Falcon, even makes appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
*F-Zero: GP Legend* first launched in 2003 in Japan, followed by its international release in 2004. *F-Zero Climax*, released in Japan in 2004, remained a region-exclusive title until now, marking a 19-year wait for global players. Game designer Takaya Imamura has previously cited the immense popularity of *Mario Kart* as a contributing factor to the *F-Zero* series' extended hiatus. With the October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, subscribers can experience the thrill of F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, competing in Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials.
