Disney Lorcana unveiled exciting updates for its trading card game, announcing that the ninth set, Fabled, will launch on September 5, 2025, introducing the first Iconic and Epic cards alongside the highly anticipated A Goofy Movie theme.
Additional details were shared about the eighth set, Reign of Jafar, set for release on June 6, a new Collection Starter Set, and the upcoming Disney Lorcana World Championship. Fans also got a sneak peek at Darkwing Duck’s inclusion.

Fabled Introduces Iconic and Epic Cards, A Goofy Movie, and Card Rotation for Competitive Play
While full details on Fabled are still under wraps, the Disney Lorcana team’s teasers have heightened anticipation for its pre-release on August 29 and full launch on September 5.
A Goofy Movie cards will be a major highlight of Fabled, though specifics on which cards will be included remain undisclosed. The team confirmed that Mickey and Minnie will debut as the first Iconic Cards.
Iconic Cards will be the rarest in Disney Lorcana, with only two per set moving forward. The Mickey and Minnie carousel cards will be highly sought-after by collectors.
Epic Cards, rarer than Legendary but less elusive than Enchanted or Iconic, will feature unique artwork and foil finishes, offering players more opportunities to snag special cards like a new Elsa (Snow Queen).
Fabled will also introduce card rotation, making certain cards from the first four sets ineligible for competitive play in the Core Constructed format, marking a significant shift for high-level competition.

Fans of earlier cards need not worry, as older cards will remain playable in the new Infinity Constructed format. Fabled will also include reprinted cards, such as Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard), fully usable in competitive play.
“Rotating out older cards keeps the competitive scene dynamic, encouraging fresh strategies and deck builds,” said Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger. “We’re reprinting fan-favorite cards from early sets in Fabled, including Enchanted versions, to ensure accessibility for all players.”
New players can dive into Disney Lorcana with the Collection Starter Set, featuring four Fabled booster packs, a Tinker Bell (Giant Fairy) Glimmer Foil Promo Card, a card portfolio with Mickey Mouse (Brave Little Tailor), and a collector’s guide.
Reign of Jafar Brings Aladdin, Bambi, and a New Co-Op Adventure
Reign of Jafar, the eighth set, will hit pre-release on May 30 and launch widely on June 6.
This set continues Lorcana’s villain-driven narrative, focusing on Jafar. According to the official description, “Jafar, wielding the Hexwell Crown, has corrupted Archazia’s Island. Glimmers like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber must unite to reclaim the crown and defeat the sinister vizier.”

Alongside Reign of Jafar, Illumineers' Quest: Palace Heist offers a cooperative “experience-in-a-box” for up to four players to team up against Jafar and his minions.
Players can collect cards like Bambi (Prince of the Forest), Flower (Shy Skunk), Thumper (Young Bunny), Jafar (High Sultan of Lorcana), Magic Carpet (Phantom Rug), and Aladdin (Vigilant Guard).
Future Teases Include Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck
Disney revealed that Whispers in the Well, the set following Fabled, will launch in Q4 2025. Key art showcased Mickey, Ariel, and hints of Disney Gargoyles, along with a new Glimmer type.
Looking further ahead, Darkwing Duck will join Disney Lorcana in 2026, answering long-standing fan requests.
Disney Lorcana World Championship Set for June 2025
The Disney Lorcana World Championship, scheduled for June 28 and 29 at Walt Disney World, will crown the first annual Disney Lorcana TCG World Champion, drawing top players globally.
Fans can watch live on Twitch.TV/DisneyLorcana with commentators Rebekah (RebekahQuests), Baker (LorcanaVillain), Liam (The Illumiteers), Brandon (Bsquared24), and JD (JDZ Quest). A non-foil ‘A Whole New World’ promo card will be available, with details to follow.
