Summary
- World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been delayed due to unforeseen technical issues.
- A new launch time has not yet been announced.
- Players can enjoy other WoW activities while waiting for Plunderstorm's return.
World of Warcraft has unexpectedly delayed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event. While a launch before the end of January 14th is still planned, players will need to be patient.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was scheduled to return on January 14th, 2025, with both returning and new rewards.
However, unforeseen technical difficulties have arisen, causing a delay beyond the initially planned eight-hour server maintenance. A WoW community manager, Kaivax, confirmed these "unexpected issues" in a forum post. Although a return before the end of January 14th is the goal, no revised launch time is currently available.
When Will Plunderstorm Launch in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unforeseen issues.
Fortunately, regular WoW servers are now back online. Players anticipating Plunderstorm can still participate in activities like Siren Isle weeklies, the Turbulent Timeways event, or other content within The War Within.
This second Plunderstorm iteration includes new features such as the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current technical challenges.
Despite the game mode's delay, World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, providing a way for players to earn rewards while waiting for the event's return.
