This guide explores the revamped PlayStation Plus service, offering a focus on its horror game offerings across its three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. While PS Plus Essential provides online multiplayer access and monthly freebies, a robust horror game library resides within the Extra and Premium tiers.
The Extra tier boasts a rotating catalog of hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games, regularly updated with approximately 15 new additions monthly. Premium expands upon this, adding hundreds of classic titles from PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP. This extensive library ensures diverse genre representation, including a strong selection of horror games.
Update (January 5, 2025): The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium additions lacked horror titles. Note that Resident Evil 2 will be removed from the service on January 21, 2025, leaving Resident Evil 3 as a remaining prominent option within the genre. Given the relatively short campaign lengths, completing Resident Evil 2 before its removal is feasible.
Due to the lack of new horror additions, a supplemental section highlighting alternative PS Plus games that might appeal to horror fans has been added.
