Team Ninja's 30th Anniversary: Big Plans on the Horizon

Team Ninja, the Koei Tecmo subsidiary famed for its action-packed titles like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, has hinted at significant projects to mark its 30th anniversary in 2025. Beyond these iconic franchises, the studio has also garnered success with soulslike RPGs, including the Nioh series and collaborations such as Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The recent release of Rise of the Ronin further showcases their diverse portfolio.

In a recent interview (via 4Gamer.net and Gematsu), Team Ninja's Fumihiko Yasuda alluded to upcoming releases, describing them as "titles fitting for the occasion." While details remain scarce, the statement fuels speculation about potential new entries in the Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden franchises. Yasuda confirmed the studio's intention to make significant announcements and releases in 2025 to commemorate the anniversary.

Team Ninja's 2025 Possibilities:

The already-announced Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a side-scrolling title revealed at The Game Awards 2024, will be a significant addition to the Ninja Gaiden lineup. This new entry aims to recapture the spirit of the classic 8-bit games while incorporating modern enhancements.

Meanwhile, fans eagerly await news regarding the Dead or Alive franchise, with the last mainline entry dating back to 2019. The possibility of a new Dead or Alive game, or even further developments within the Nioh series, remains a strong point of fan speculation. The 30th anniversary presents a prime opportunity for Team Ninja to revisit these beloved IPs.
