Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's fantastic news for us! We'll cover the latest news, examine the new eShop additions, and review the day's sales – both new and expiring. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's strategic pairing of two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I strongly recommend watching the video for a comprehensive overview. It's a treasure trove of games for diverse tastes.

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania compilation emerged as a pleasant surprise from the Direct. This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. The emulation is superb, offering a feature-rich experience. Exceptional value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer bursts onto the Switch scene as another Direct surprise. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will find this irresistible, but even those without strong Wario feelings should consider this fast-paced platformer. A review is pending.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprises continue! It's Wednesday, and these unexpected releases are a welcome sight. Goat Simulator 3 delivers the chaotic fun you'd expect. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (more powerful consoles have experienced issues), its inherent absurdity might even enhance the experience. Expect silly goats, silly antics, and potential Switch performance hiccups.

Peglin ($19.99)

While it's tempting to criticize EA for missing out on the Switch market with PopCap games, Peglin fills that Peggle-shaped void admirably. A mobile hit, Peglin cleverly blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft injects fresh energy into its simulation formula by incorporating the beloved Doraemon franchise. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story offers a standard Kairosoft experience enhanced by charming Doraemon characters and even cameo appearances from the manga artist's other creations.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans! Supporting up to eight players locally or online, this cooperative puzzle game thrives on numbers. Solve challenging puzzles requiring teamwork and strategic thinking. While not drastically different from its predecessor, it's a solid addition for those seeking more.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game showcasing Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple yet enjoyable, offering a solid experience for its price point.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A straightforward Sokoban-style puzzle game featuring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing await.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles challenge players to utilize their character's abilities and drawing skills. Local and online multiplayer for up to four players.
