Honey Production: A Sweet Success

Honey in Stardew Valley is produced by bees housed in Bee Houses. These become craftable at Farming Level 3, requiring:

  • 40 Wood
  • 8 Coal
  • 1 Iron Bar
  • 1 Maple Syrup

Alternatively, Bee Houses can be obtained from completing the Fall Crops Bundle (Community Center) or the Mayor's Prize Counter.

Bee House Placement and Honey Types

Place Bee Houses outdoors (farm, forest, quarry). They produce honey every 3-4 days (all seasons except Winter; year-round on Ginger Island). Harvesting honey with an axe or pickaxe will drop it. Bee Houses in the Greenhouse do not produce honey.

Honey type depends on nearby flowers (within five tiles):

  • No flowers: Wild Honey (100g, 140g with Artisan profession)
  • Flowers present: Honey type matches the closest flower. Flowers in Garden Pots also count. Harvesting the flower before honey collection reverts the honey to Wild Honey. Wild Seed flowers (Sweet Peas, Daffodils) always yield Wild Honey.

Honey Value and Artisan Profession

Honey is an Artisan Good, boosted by 40% with the Artisan profession (Farming Level 10). Prices (base/Artisan):

Honey Type Base Sell Price Artisan Sell Price
Tulip Honey 160g 224g
Blue Jazz Honey 200g 280g
Sunflower Honey 260g 364g
Summer Spangle 280g 392g
Poppy Honey 380g 532g
Fairy Rose Honey 680g 952g

Honey Uses

  • Selling: High-value honeys are best sold directly.
  • Mead: Use any honey in a Keg to make Mead (200g base, up to 400g Iridium quality). Aging in a Cask increases quality. Honey type doesn't affect Mead value.
  • Crafting: Wild Honey is used to craft a Warp Totem: Farm (Farming Level 8).
  • Gifting: Honey is a Liked gift for most villagers (except Maru and Sebastian). Mead is also a good gift (avoid Penny, Sebastian, children).
  • Bundles: Honey completes the Artisan Bundle (Community Center).
