Smite 2 Goes F2P, New Goddess Unleashed

Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: A New Era for the MOBA

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered its alpha phase in 2024.

This isn't just another beta; it's a major content drop. Alongside the open beta, players will welcome Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, to the roster. Aladdin, a Magical Assassin and Jungler, boasts unique abilities including wall-running and enemy trapping.

Returning favorites from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, will also be present, though with updated skill sets. The expanding God roster, currently at 14, is projected to reach nearly 50 by the end of January 2025.

New Game Modes and Features:

The open beta introduces exciting new game modes:

  • Joust (3v3): An Arthurian-themed map featuring teleporters and stealth grass for strategic gameplay.
  • Duel (1v1): Utilizing the same map as Joust, offering intense one-on-one battles.

The innovative "Aspects" system adds a layer of strategic depth. Players can sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful bonus. For instance, Athena loses her ally-shielding teleport but gains a foe-weakening one. Twenty of Smite 2's 45 Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.

Quality-of-life improvements abound, including Role Guides for new players, PC text chat, improved item stores, death recaps, and more.

Esports Debut:

The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19, further solidifying Smite 2's position in the competitive gaming scene.

Platforms:

Smite 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Mark your calendars for January 14th and prepare for a thrilling new chapter in the Smite universe!
