Bloober Team, the studio behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, recently revealed a fascinating concept: a Lord of the Rings survival horror game. During a Bonfire Conversations podcast, game director Mateusz Lenart shared that the team explored the idea of a grim, immersive horror experience set within the dark corners of Middle-earth.
Unfortunately, securing the rights to the franchise proved impossible, leaving the project unrealized. However, fans remain enthusiastic about the potential, citing Tolkien's rich source material, filled with dark plots ideal for generating a chilling atmosphere.
Currently, Bloober Team's focus is on their new title, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potentially further collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill projects. Whether the studio will revisit the Lord of the Rings horror concept remains uncertain, but the prospect of a game featuring terrifying Nazgûl or Gollum is undeniably intriguing.
