PS Plus Freebies: Days Gone PS5 Upgrade Now Only $10

by Leo Feb 20,2025

Sony's recent State of Play showcased Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has angered some PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 disc or digital version of the game. PS Plus subscribers who redeemed the game through the service (including the now-defunct PS Plus Collection and April 2021's Essential monthly offering) are ineligible for the discounted upgrade and must pay the full $49.99 price.

This decision has sparked considerable backlash online. PlayStation Plus subreddit posts are filled with comments from subscribers expressing their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but now opting to skip the game entirely. Many argue that Sony missed out on significant revenue by excluding PS Plus users, even suggesting that many would have paid a small fee to try the remastered version.

Several commenters highlight the perceived stinginess of this move, especially considering the game's previous availability through PS Plus. One user pointed out that Sony essentially forfeited potential $10 revenue per PS Plus user who previously redeemed the game. Another user stated they won't pay full price for the remaster, deeming it unnecessary.

While some PS Plus subscribers understand Sony's likely cost-benefit analysis behind this decision, the company is facing criticism for its perceived lack of generosity towards its loyal fanbase.
