by Violet Apr 13,2025

Nintendo has officially addressed the buzz surrounding a supposed 3D-printed mockup of the Nintendo Switch 2, showcased by the American hardware accessory maker Genki during CES 2025. In statements provided to CNET Japan and the Japanese newspaper Sankei, Nintendo clarified that the images and videos circulating are not official. They emphasized that the hardware Genki claimed to be the Switch 2 was never provided by Nintendo, labeling it as unofficial.

At CES 2025, Genki made waves by displaying what they suggested was a 3D-printed prototype of the eagerly awaited next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2. They also hinted to journalists and attendees that they possessed a "real" Switch 2 and even mentioned a release date. Genki, known for its range of electronics and video game accessories, including controllers, portable SSDs, and chargers, has dedicated a section on their website to Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mock-up of the console.

Despite the excitement, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about the upcoming console, only confirming that the Switch 2 will feature backwards compatibility with the original Switch and its games. As anticipation builds, the Japanese tech giant is expected to make an official announcement soon, dispelling rumors and providing concrete details about the next big thing in gaming.
