Obtaining Filler Metal in NieR: Automata: A Comprehensive Guide

This guide details the two methods for acquiring Filler Metal in NieR: Automata, a rare upgrade material. One method involves searching the game world, while the other involves purchasing it.

Method 1: Finding Filler Metal in the Factory

Filler Metal is a rare drop found in specific item spawn locations within the Factory area. The exact location of these spawns is randomized with each playthrough. It has the lowest probability of appearing compared to other items.

To optimize your search:

  • Access Point: Utilize the "Factory: Hanger" access point for fast travel, significantly reducing travel time. You may need to progress further in the main story to unlock this access point.
  • Exploration: Thoroughly explore the Factory, collecting all naturally spawning items. Movement speed upgrades can slightly improve efficiency, but reliable farming is impossible.

Method 2: Purchasing Filler Metal in the Amusement Park

Filler Metal can be purchased from the Shopkeeper Machine in the Amusement Park, but only after completing all three playthroughs and obtaining a final ending. This unlocks a new inventory for the Shopkeeper. Using Chapter Select to revisit the Amusement Park after completing the game will allow you to purchase Filler Metal at a cost of 11,250 G each.

While expensive, this method offers a much more reliable way to obtain Filler Metal than repeated Factory runs. The Pod upgrades requiring Filler Metal are crucial for progressing through the game, especially to counter high-level enemies.
