Marvel's Spider-Man 2: PC Release Details
January 30, 2025 Launch Date Confirmed
Announced at New York Comic Con's Marvel Games showcase, the PC version promises a top-tier experience. Developed and optimized by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, expect ray tracing, ultrawide monitor support, and extensive graphical customization options. Nixxes' expertise in porting PlayStation titles to PC is well-established, having previously handled the Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima ports.
"Bringing the Spider-Man games to PC with Insomniac and Marvel Games has been fantastic," stated Nixxes' Community Manager, Julian Huijbregts. Insomniac's Mike Fitzgerald added that the PC port will offer a tailored experience for PC players. While DualSense features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback won't be replicated, keyboard and mouse support and ultrawide monitor compatibility will be key features.
The PC release will include all post-launch content from the PS5 version, boasting twelve new suits (including Symbiote Suit styles), New Game+, "Ultimate Levels," new time-of-day options, post-game achievements, enhanced Photo Mode, and more – with additional content for Digital Deluxe Edition owners. However, no new story content is planned.
PSN Account Requirement: A Point of Contention
A significant concern is the requirement of a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, a trend emerging with several PlayStation PC ports. This excludes players in regions lacking PSN access, raising concerns about accessibility. While Sony previously reversed a similar PSN requirement for Helldivers 2, the issue remains a point of contention for players.
The PC release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 marks a significant step for Sony in expanding its reach beyond PlayStation consoles. While the PSN requirement needs addressing, the commitment to bringing its exclusive franchises to PC is noteworthy. Game8 awarded the PS5 version an 88, praising it as a superb sequel. Prepare for a thrilling web-slinging adventure this January!
