Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision
Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has retracted its plan to reset player ranks mid-season. This reversal follows the release of Dev Talk 10, which outlined a system dropping players four divisions every 45 days.
The Developer's Response: A Quick Turnaround
Dev Talk 11 swiftly addressed the negative community response to the mid-season reset. The developer team acknowledged the concerns, stating that the proposed system was discouraging for players striving for higher ranks. As a result, the mid-season rank reset has been canceled. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in place.
New Heroes and Other Updates Remain on Track
Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates proceed as scheduled. The highly anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track for release. NetEase Games' commitment to releasing two new playable characters per three-month season remains unchanged.
Reward adjustments for players reaching Gold rank and above also remain. Gold rank and above players will receive the previously announced Invisible Woman costume. Grandmaster and above players will receive Crests of Honor. Further rewards, including additional costumes and Crests of Honor, will be awarded at the end of the season. Balance adjustments are also planned, though specifics haven't been revealed yet.
