Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Flaunts Sales Success

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence of Interest in the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating significant player interest in this revitalized action game. Despite initial technical hurdles and some controversy surrounding content changes, the game's sales figures clearly indicate strong demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a signature chainsaw-wielding, zombie-slaying action title. While the original developers didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay features.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via a tweet.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader battling a zombie apocalypse at her high school while uncovering her family's secret history as zombie hunters. The game's hack-and-slash combat, reminiscent of Bayonetta, utilizes Juliet's trusty chainsaw against hordes of undead and unique bosses.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. A key factor in Lollipop Chainsaw's appeal was the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (renowned game designer) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy director), who contributed significantly to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, the success of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP bodes well for remasters of other cult classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title updated for modern platforms.
