LEGO has unveiled its most ambitious Jurassic World set to date: a colossal T-rex skeleton that spans over three feet in length. This impressive set comes complete with minifigures of Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant, iconic characters from the original Jurassic Park film, where the skeleton is famously displayed in the visitor center. Priced at $249.99, the set will be available for purchase at the LEGO Store starting March 12 for LEGO Insiders (sign up for free here) and March 15 for the general public.
LEGO Jurassic World Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex
Release Date: March 15 (March 12 for Insiders)
Price: $249.99
Pieces: 3,145
Ages: 18+
Dimensions: L: 105cm (41.3in) / H: 33cm (12.9in)
This set, designed for adults aged 18 and above, comprises 3,145 pieces and is intended for display rather than play. It may feature advanced building techniques that could challenge younger builders. While photos may not fully convey the set's scale, the inclusion of Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler minifigures provides a sense of perspective. When fully assembled, the skeleton stretches over three feet long. The skull bears a striking resemblance to the LEGO T-rex skull currently available (which my son built and found visually appealing), but the full skeleton adds significantly to the overall impact of this new set.

The dinosaur skeleton features articulated joints, allowing for a variety of poses. The head and jaw can move, and the arms and tail can be positioned in different ways. As with many LEGO sets inspired by films, this one includes hidden Easter eggs to discover during the building process. It also comes with a display stand and an informational plaque detailing the T-rex's diet, habitat, and more.

While LEGO's Jurassic World collection may not yet rival the size of its LEGO Star Wars or LEGO Harry Potter lines, it is expanding rapidly. As an enthusiast, I am eager to see more sophisticated LEGO sets for adults, like this T-rex skeleton, added to the lineup in the future.
