Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announce Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia
Crystal Dynamics, the acclaimed game developer based in California, has recently announced two thrilling projects for the Legacy of Kain franchise, following the successful December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered.
In a press release, the studio detailed their collaboration with UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker. "We’re thrilled to delve back into Nosgoth with these two passion projects," stated Ryan Brown from Lost In Cult.
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that will immerse fans in the gothic universe of Nosgoth, the heart of the Legacy of Kain series. Authored by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this comprehensive guide will detail Nosgoth’s locations, factions, and inhabitants, alongside a timeline that chronicles the epic saga of Kain and Raziel.
Beyond the lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the Legacy of Kain games. Expect to see original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive developer interviews. The encyclopedia will cover the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles, providing a thorough exploration of the series’ production history.
An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Set for Release
The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, is an atmospheric tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampire threat in Nosgoth. Using the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this TTRPG promises a mechanics-light, yet high-stakes gameplay experience, where players take on the roles of the warrior priests of the Sarafan Order.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will feature six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, and the vast landscape of Nosgoth. Players will have the freedom to explore vampire hunts, delve into the hidden history of Nosgoth, and venture into the spectral realm.
