Forza Horizon 4's Digital Sunset: No More New Purchases After December 15, 2024
The popular open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 4, will be removed from major digital stores on December 15, 2024. This means no new purchases of the game or its add-on content will be possible after that date. While the game, set in a fictionalized UK, has enjoyed immense success since its 2018 release, boasting over 24 million players (as of November 2020), its digital storefront availability is ending.
Despite previous assurances from developer Playground Games, the game's delisting is now confirmed due to expiring licenses for in-game content. This affects the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. All DLC will be removed from purchase on June 25th, leaving only the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions available until the December 15th delisting date.
Forza Horizon 4's Farewell Tour: Series 77 and Beyond
The game's final series, Series 77, will run from July 25th to August 22nd. Following this, the playlist screen will be unavailable, though the Forza Events screen, offering daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events, will remain accessible.
Existing players are unaffected. Those with digital or physical copies can continue playing. Game Pass subscribers with active, fully paid subscriptions who have purchased DLC will receive a game token soon to guarantee continued access.
The delisting isn't unexpected; expiring licenses for vehicles and music frequently lead to the removal of racing games from digital platforms. This mirrors the fate of previous Forza Horizon titles, such as Forza Horizon 3.
Current Deals and a Last Chance to Buy
Players wishing to add Forza Horizon 4 to their collection can take advantage of an 80% Steam discount currently running, with an Xbox Store sale planned for August 14th. This presents a final opportunity to purchase this critically acclaimed title before it's gone from digital storefronts.
